DID YOU KNOW? – The UCLA Anderson Forecast, one of the nation's premier quarterly barometers for California and the country's economic health, was the most accurate predictor of the real gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate for the past three quarters, according to U.S. Commerce Department data. GDP numbers predicted last December by Edward Leamer, forecast director, most accurately reflected the trend and direction of U.S. economic growth.

The Anderson School at UCLA has raised $10 million to launch a new center for real estate research and education.

FEDS HOPE TO INVEST MORE IN NANOSCIENCE
A high-ranking official from the U.S. Department of Commerce told more than 100 Southern California business and academic leaders and state and federal policymakers gathered at UCLA Sept. 10 that President Bush wants to increase federal investment in nanoscience research by 23% next year to $519 million.
