UCLA will mark the 10th anniversary of the civil unrest with the following events:
An outdoor art exhibit April 24, 25 and 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bruin Plaza.
All other events will take place on April 29.
Darnell Hunt, director of the Center for African American Studies and author of a book on the subject, will speak 9-10:30 a.m. in Haines Hall 135 on media coverage of the Los Angeles uprising.
The Chicano Studies Research Center will present a discussion on "The 1992 Los Angeles Uprising: A Chicano Perspective" 10:30 a.m.-noon at Haines Hall 144.
The Asian American Studies Center will host "Writers Taking L.A. Back" from 1-2:30 p.m. at Bruin Plaza featuring author Wanda Coleman; Russell Leong, editor of UCLA's Amerasia Journal; performance poet Pat Payne; and writer Irene Suico Soriano.
The Lewis Center for Regional Policy Studies and the Center for the Study of Urban Poverty will present a panel discussion on "A Decade of Political and Socio-Economic Change and Stagnation" from 2:30-4 p.m. at Public Policy Building 2355.
Students will hold a panel discussion from 6-8 p.m. in Moore 100. The day's events will conclude with a candlelight vigil at 8 p.m. at Bruin Plaza.
