DAVID SEFTON
Director of UCLA Performing Arts
A native of Liverpool, England, Sefton started
as a music journalist and moved into producing via work in small
fringe theaters. Before coming to UCLA two years ago, he was head
of artistic development at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
“I travel extensively to find the finest art in the world
and bring it to Los Angeles,” he said. “The highlights
happen when I find great stuff, then experience it with L.A. audiences
at the other end of the process!”
What is your greatest achievement?
Each new season is always the greatest achievement — so
the UCLA Live! 2002/03 season is absolutely it (until next year).
What is your motto?
Life’s too short to stuff a mushroom.
Who are your heroes in real life?
Albert Einstein, Nina Simone and Homer Simpson.
What is your favorite journey?
From anywhere to home — “home” being Los Angeles,
naturally.
