Born in Shiraz, Iran, and raised in Washington,
D.C., Norris received a B.A. in interdisciplinary studies from
the University of Virginia and an Ed.M. from Harvard University’s
Graduate School of Education. She joined UCLA in 2001.
What is your motto?
Be the change you want to see in the world.
If you hadn’t chosen your current
occupation, what would you have become?
I would like to have been a diplomat or a National Geographic
photographer.
What is your most treasured possession?
A necklace from Iran that my American grandmother bought while
there for my birth.
What is your favorite journey?
Two I greatly look forward to are to the Baha’i shrines
in Haifa, Israel, and to visit my father in Nanjing, China.
