After receiving a B.S. in business administration
from Cal State University, Northridge, in 1984, Kiser worked
in the private sector as a financial analyst in the health care,
property development and investment fields. In 1995, she started
in UCLA’s microbiology and immunology department as an
MSO, then moved to dentistry as an assistant dean for finance
and administration.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Starbucks coffee. I can’t believe I’m willing to
pay that much for a few ground beans and a bit of whipped cream!
What’s best about working at UCLA?
Our diverse environment — a mixture of cultures, ideas
and perspectives that makes this a wonderful and stimulating
place to work.
What is your motto?
Find the humor in life. I’ve found that the ability to
see the humor in situations and to laugh at yourself makes life’s
obstacles seem less overwhelming.
