Seplow, a native of Newton, N.J., received her
Ph.D. in education from UCLA in 2001. While an undergraduate
at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa., she attended a marketing
event for Columbia University’s student affairs program
and “fell in love” with the concept of working with
college students. At Columbia’s Teachers College, she
took a graduate assistant position in residential life and she
has worked with students living on campus ever since.
Which living person do you most admire,
and why?
Robin, my partner. She teaches me every day to learn from both
the glorious moments and the difficult challenges.
What is your favorite musical group?
Raining Jane — I stick with the local favorite!
If you hadn’t chosen your current
occupation, what would you have chosen?
Professional women’s basketball player. I would love to
be in the WNBA — but for now, I’m pleased to be
