Casillas is a Los Angeles native and, he adds,
a Dodger fan. He received his B.A. in political science from
UCLA in 1989 and worked briefly at an advertising agency before
returning to campus to join the orientation program. Casillas
counseled students in the Graduate School of Education &
Information Studies for four years before moving on to his current
position in the College.
What is your greatest achievement?
Riding a bicycle from San Francisco to Los Angeles for the California
AIDS Ride. I also jumped out of an airplane as part of a fund-raising
event for a youth group (with a parachute, of course).
What is your motto?
Invest in yourself and in others. It makes life a lot happier.
If you could change one thing about
yourself, what would it be?
I’d get a sense of humor (kidding!).
