Robert Williams

Director of Food Operations, ASUCLA

Born in Detroit and raised in Texas and Southern California, Williams worked as a student supervisor in Rieber Hall’s food service from 1977-79. After graduating with a B.A. in economics from UCLA in 1980, he took a job as a food manager with ASUCLA and never left.

What is the best thing about working at UCLA?
Every year a fantastic group of student employees accepts the responsibility of operating the food facilities on campus. I love watching them develop over time into very skilled managers.

Which living person do you most admire?
Without question, my father is the person I admire most. I only wish I had listened to him more when I was young. He turned out to be very wise.

What is your favorite type of music?
The next song I hear on the radio that inspires me is my favorite music. It can be any type of music as long as it gets my adrenaline flowing.
