NEW JOURNAL DEBUTS
A new national journal by the Asian American Studies Center focuses
on policies, practices and community research to benefit the nation’s
burgeoning Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities. It’s
being launched as part of the center’s yearlong celebration
of its 35th anniversary. AAPI Nexus (Asian American and Pacific
Islander Nexus) draws from professional schools and applied social
science scholars as well as practitioners and public policy advocates
with the goal of reinvigorating Asian-American studies’ traditional
mission of serving communities and generating practical research.

SIP ’N’ SURF
Northern Lights Coffeehouse now offers free Internet access to
students, staff and faculty so they can sip cappuccinos and catch
up on e-mails, check on class schedules or surf the Web. ASUCLA
installed three computers at the coffeehouse after access to the
Net continued to be one of the most highly requested services by
students in its biannual survey. ASUCLA plans to evaluate how well
the terminals are received and intends to add additional units if
feedback is positive, according to Management Information Systems
Director Kamran Mehdian.
