Jack Barron Jr.
UCLA PAC (People Animal Connection) Team Coordinator
Barron, who has owned American Welding Alloys since 1981, started
making hospital visits with his Golden Retriever, Joey, as a UCLA
PAC Program volunteer in 2000. Last July, Barron assumed his current
part-time position as coordinator and now splits his time between
his downtown business and the PAC Program, volunteering several
times a month with Joey.
What is the best thing about working at UCLA?
What I have witnessed when my dog visits staff and patients here
in the medical center. He has helped hundreds of staff here have
a little better day and has helped countless patients forget about
their problems, at least for a short time.
What is your most treasured possession?
My good health, without which I could not enjoy my great life, family
and friends.
What words do you most overuse?
“Really.” I use this word far too many times each day!
