Annette Stanton
Professor, Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry/Biobehavioral
Sciences; Member, Jonsson Cancer Center
Born in France and raised in a small town in Kansas, Stanton received
a B.A. from the University of Kansas in 1977 and a Ph.D. from the
University of Connecticut in 1983. She is a specialist in clinical
health psychology and served as professor of psychology at the University
of Kansas before joining the UCLA faculty last January.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Tickets! Tickets to Royce Hall events, the Los Angeles Philharmonic,
the Geffen Playhouse, UCLA basketball games — the list goes
on.
If you hadn’t chosen your current occupation, what
would you have chosen?
Professional flutist.
What is your favorite journey?
A road trip through starkly beautiful land to find a small-town
café that serves a great piece of pie ... or Paris.
What’s your most treasured possession?
I’d say my dogs Sparky and Annie. They are big dogs in little
dog bodies.
