THIS WEEK ON CAMPUS
Women’s achievements will be celebrated this week as part
of the fifth annual UCLA Women for Change. Beginning today, the
UCLA Clothesline Project will hang hundreds of T-shirts across Schoenberg
Quad depicting stories of anguish, anger, isolation and humiliation
caused by sexual or gender violence. Also today at noon at Schoenberg
Plaza, there will be a discussion of the book “White Oleander”
with author Janet Fitch. A student festival with performances and
exhibits is set for May 12, beginning at 11 a.m. in Bruin Plaza.
“Strong Women ... Big Sports” will highlight UCLA’s
extraordinary women athletes on May 13 at 11 a.m. at the Los Angeles
Tennis Center Clubhouse. The week of events wraps up May 15 with
UCLA’s 8th Annual Women’s Leadership Conference. For
details on these and other events, see www.women4change.ucla.edu.
