Elwin Svenson, a former vice chancellor who currently serves as a key member of the Anderson School’s Fully Employed MBA (FEMBA) Program and as senior adviser to the school’s Harold Price Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, was honored on Dec. 11 by the Finnish government with the Knight, First Class, of the Order of the White Rose of Finland. Svenson received the honor in recognition of his work, through Anderson’s Global Access Program, to improve the competitiveness of Finnish technology companies. Through these efforts, he has helped these companies expand into markets abroad.... The Department of Neurology at the David Geffen School of Medicine has been designated a regional Center of Excellence by the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. The designation includes $50,000 a year in funding to help support a multidisciplinary team of health-care professionals with expertise in Huntington’s disease (HD). The team will provide comprehensive medical and social services as well as education, outreach and research opportunities to the HD community.... In a Dec. 15 ceremony, Bank of America Market President Chris Frank presented Bruce Willison, dean of the Anderson School, with a $100,000 check to support the UCLA Anderson Forecast. The forecast is one of the most widely watched and often-cited economic outlooks for California and the nation. Through the generosity of Bank of America, the forecast’s March conference will focus on business growth in an uncertain economy.
