RABBI MICAH HYMAN
Interfaith Chaplain, Spiritual Care Department, UCLA Medical
Center
Raised in Beverly Hills, Hyman received degrees from the University
of Michigan, Ann Arbor (1993), the University of Judaism, Los Angeles
(1995), and the Jewish Theological Seminary, New York (1999). Choosing
his field “after getting kicked out of Hebrew school but still
having something to say,” Hyman was a rabbi in Paris before
starting as a chaplain intern at UCLA last fall.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Being comfortable with death.
What is your favorite type of music?
Hip-hop (A Tribe Called Quest) and madrigals (The King’s Singers).
Who are your heroes in real life?
Marcel Duchamp, Zaha Hadid, Isaiah Berlin.
