World AIDS Day

BY KELLY GRAML
UCLA Today

How will you observe World AIDS Day?

On Thursday, Dec. 1, dozens of groups from every corner of the UCLA campus will meet at various locations to mark World AIDS Day 2005. The campus community will have a mix of eclectic activities to choose from — performances, workshops, HIV testing, multimedia displays and a lunchtime march and rally.

Sponsored by an array of student groups, the Department of World Arts and Cultures and — most prominently — the UCLA AIDS Institute and the School of the Arts and Architecture, the day’s events are meant to build on a broad campus commitment to intervene in the AIDS epidemic.

“We want to reach as many people as possible, and we’re hoping that the sheer size of the campus collaboration and the diversity of the events will be compelling,” said Ragini Sharma, member of the Student Welfare Commission and student leader of World AIDS Day 2005.

The slate of events will include:

9 a.m.-6 p.m.
