For the second year in a row, the School of Nursing was ranked 10th in the nation for its master’s program in nursing and its nursing administration graduate program by U.S. News & World Report’s 2007 survey of America’s best nursing schools and specialties. “We are thrilled that our academic peers regard the curriculum, faculty and graduates of the UCLA School of Nursing in such high esteem,” said Dean Marie Cowan.... UCLA’s Jonsson Cancer Center has been named a LIVESTRONG(tm) Survivorship Center of Excellence by the Lance Armstrong Foundation. It will join a network of five leading centers nationwide that will work together to address the needs of cancer survivors in the United States. A five-year, $1.7-million grant from the foundation will establish the Jonsson Cancer Center Survivorship Program to help cancer survivors transition to disease-free lives…. The School of Public Health has received a $200,000 donation to endow, in perpetuity, an annual $10,000 prize to be awarded to an outstanding graduating student. The prize will be named after the donor, Los Angeles civic leader Carolbeth Korn, a 1959 UCLA graduate in public health. Korn donated $100,000 in 1997 to the school, at the time the largest unrestricted gift in the school’s history. She serves on the Board of Directors of Women and Philanthropy and with the UCLA Foundation Governors.
