The great pen exchange

Medical staff recently turned in about 75 pounds' worth of vendor-labeled "gifts" — exchanging them for UCLA Health System pens and Starbucks gift certificates. the turned-in items included some 1,700 pens and pencils as well as coffee mugs, clipboards, paper pads, sticky notes, ID holder neck straps and assorted other products. The event publicized new UCLA guidelines to preclude any perception of undue influence by vendors.
