Prom Dress Rugby

It's a wacky tradition that the nationally ranked Bruin Rangers rugby team adopted to raise awareness of and support for their sports, sometimes collecting as much as $1,000 in contributions from spectators eager to see this "refined" version of the game.

"Hideous bridesmaids dresses, cheap wedding gowns and the worst fashion faux pas we can find are ideal," said player Gabrielle Marsaidi. Despite the silk and flounces, the ladies still run and tackle. The dresses "contain no hard parts that will injure your teammates," Marsaidi noted.
