Bike to Campus Week May 13

UCLA's annual Bike to Campus Week kicks off May 13 with the first of three on-campus bicycle pit stops. UCLA Transportation, in partnership with UCLA Recreation and Metro, plan three days of activities to raise awareness of bicycling as a sustainability and healthy means of transportation.

Prepare for the event with a free basic tuneup or fix-a-tire service available now at the Wooden Center's UCLA Bicycle Community Center. Also available at the center, for the first 200 visitors, will be free bike prep kits that include a $20 coupon toward the purchase of a bike helmet at Helen's Cycles in Westwood Village, a Bike Week T-shirt, patch kit, bike map and more. Find more Bike Center information.

The pit stops will feature light refreshments, bicycling information, bike safety equipment, tire patch kits and registration for a prize drawing. The pits stops are:

* Tuesday, May 13, 7:30-9:30 a.m. at Westwood Blvd. and LeConte Ave.

* Wednesday, May 14, 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the Dental Breezeway along Tiverton Ave. south of Charles E. Young Drive.

* Thursday, May 15, 10 a.m.-noon at Bruin Plaza.
