Go Green
You may not know it, but your car or refrigerator could one day have parts made out of recycled CDs. UCLA is out to recycle CDs in a big way. Software Central, part of Academic Technology Services, shipped out 300 pounds of CDs, DVDs and other disks for recycling after recently expanding its efforts to end the stream of disks flowing from the campus into the garbage.
More campus drop-off points make it easier to safely junk any digital disk containing music, movies, computer programs or other data. To protect sensitive information, Software Central recommends erasing disks first — or even breaking them in half.
Go to www.SoftwareCentral.com and click on CD/DVD Recycling to find drop-off locations near you. Learn more about UCLA's many initiatives at www.sustain.ucla.edu.
