Four faculty members have been elected Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. These individuals have been recognized for their efforts in advancing science applications in a wide variety of fields. They are Steven G. Clarke, professor of chemistry and biochemistry; Miguel A. Garcia-Garibay, professor of chemistry and biochemistry; Carl A. Maida, adjunct professor of public health and community dentistry; and Burton Clark, professor emeritus of higher education.... The Pearson Foundation has made a $50,000 gift for fellowships that will enable Los Angeles public school professionals to enroll in the UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies' Educational Leadership Program. The three-year doctoral program is part of UCLA’s effort to train leaders who will influence change within the education system....The UCLA Medical Center has been added to the Leapfrog Group's list of top hospitals for 2007. Rankings are based on the Washington, D.C.-based organization's annual Hospital Quality and Safety Survey. UCLA was one of 41 U.S. hospitals, and the only one in the Los Angeles area, named to the list.
