James Gibson has been named the new director of Environment, Health and Safety. He comes to UCLA with more than 20 years of experience in the health and safety field. Previously, he held management positions with the City of Chicago Department of the Environment; the Chicago Housing Authority; the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene; and the Public Health Department for Cunard/Carnival Cruise Lines.

William Dunne is the new director of emergency readiness and response for the UCLA Health System. He last served as director of the UCLA-Daniel Freeman Paramedic Education Program and was also a clinical instructor for the Geffen School of Medicine's Department of Emergency Medicine.

Kurt Kainsinger is the new manager of the Disaster Resource Center for the UCLA Health System. Kainsinger has been a UCPD field training officer, an EMT and a lifeguard.

Ann Trudell, a midwife with UCLA Maternity Associates, was named Midwife of the Year by the Doulas Association of Southern California, an organization of 150 doulas and birth-care providers. The award recognizes extraordinary people in the birth community.
