Talleah Bridges, part-time interviewer for the UCLA History Project, served as an associate producer for the film "Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience." Nominated for an Academy Award, the documentary was built upon a project created by the National Endowment for the Arts to gather the writing of servicemen and women, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and their families.
Robin Garrell, professor of chemistry and biochemistry, has been selected by a panel of scientists to receive an international award for her pioneering research in nanotechnology. She received the Gold Medal in the 2007 Pioneering Nanotechnology Competition sponsored by Masscal Scientific Instruments of Orlando, Fla., for technical innovation in microfluidic devices. Her research was recognized for innovation in the Novel Applications category.
Linda J. Sax, an associate professor of education who studies gender differences in college student development, has been awarded a Sudikoff Fellowship from the Sudikoff Family Institute for her book, "The Gender Gap in College," to be published by Jossey-Bass this year. The book aids researchers and practitioners in higher education who are developing special programs and services for college students.
