The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is awarding Asad A. Abidi, professor of electrical engineering, its 2008 Donald O. Pederson Award in Solid-State Circuits, recognizing his visionary work in integrating emerging communications technologies into what became the nucleus of many popular wireless communications products.... Christoph Bull, adjunct associate professor of music, has been given a 2008-09 ASCAPLUS Award in the Concert Music Division. The award is given by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.... Associate Professor of Education Mitchell J. Chang, and Don T. Nakanishi, professor of Asian-American studies, and social sciences and comparative education, received the 2008 Asian Pacific American Network's Outstanding Contribution to APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi Americans) Research Award for their 2007 report on Asian-American college students. The report, "Beyond Myths: The Growth and Diversity of Asian American College Freshmen, 1971–2005," provided the largest compilation and analysis of data on this group of college students ever undertaken.
