Names & Faces

E. Richard Stiehm, professor of pediatrics in the Division of Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology at Mattel Children's Hospital, received the 2007 Abbott Laboratories Award in Clinical and Diagnostic Immunology from the American Society for Microbiology for his more than three decades of work as a preeminent leader in the field of pediatric immunology.

Louis J. Ignarro, professor of pharmacology at the David Geffen School of Medicine and winner of the 1998 Nobel Prize in medicine, has been elected to the American Philosophical Society. It is the country's oldest learned society, recognizing extraordinary achievements in science, letters and the arts.

Shelley Brown, finance manager for the UCLA Police Department and past president of the UCLA Staff Assembly, was elected to the executive board of the Council of UC Staff Assemblies. She will serve as secretary for 2007-08.
