Names & Faces

Marie Cowan, dean of the School of Nursing, has been chosen to receive the Living Legend Award by the American Academy of Nursing. Considered one of the highest honors in the nursing field, the Living Legend award spotlights senior academy members who serve as extraordinary role models and whose lifetime of achievements embodies the history of the nursing profession.

The Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival honored Robert Rosen, dean of the School of Theater, Film and Television, with a lifetime achievement award on Sept. 16. The award is conferred upon "icons in film and music that have made significant career contributions in their fields." The festival is honoring Rosen for his outstanding contributions to education and film preservation.

Cun-Yu Wang has joined the School of Dentistry as professor and chair of the Division of Oral Biology and Medicine. He has been published extensively in journals, including Science, Nature and Cell, and is a world-renowned scientist credited with the discovery of the mechanism for apoptosis, a significant breakthrough in the understanding of cell death and a major step forward in cancer research.
