Great campus eats

Campus eats iStockColumbian chicken stew, made-to-order pastas, fresh baked goods, sushi, organic salad, even everyday ordinary cheeseburgers and fries in UCLA’s student dining halls were recently ranked among the top 20 – Number 12 to be exact – in the “Best College Food” category in the Princeton Review’s Best 368 Colleges 2009. The rankings are based on the tastebuds of the pickiest of food reviewers: students. UCLA is the only UC campus on the list and only one of three publics among a field of otherwise private universities.

Faculty and staff can also chow down on the delicious meals students enjoy in the good-looking dining rooms at Covel, DeNeve, Rieber and Hedrick halls. The heartiest of appetites are sure to be satisfied with a selection of as many as 10 entrees at these all-you-care-to-eat meals. Treat yourself to breakfast for $7.75, lunch for $9.50 or dinner for $10.50, dessert and non-alcoholic drinks included. Save $2.25 per meal if you pay with your BruinCard. There’s also an all-out occasional “theme dinner” for $13.25 (but no BruinCard discount). Rieber Hall’s “Fiesta Fridays,” featuring Mexican specialties, is a favorite.
