Shakespeare fave: Hamlet, because he's a jerk. And it's hilarious.

Swimming in Bardland

Ohhh yes. The Globe. In the rain. Now that's an experience to call home about. And then talk about again and again thereafter. Because it's hilarious. And sad. But mostly hilarious.

I'll just skip over the minor details and say that upon arrival at that historic, open-roofed theater, the deluge coming from the London sky was a force to be reckoned with. Umbrellas aren't allowed in this magical place — just your own water-resistant clothing and the garbage-bag ponchos (see Karen's photo) they sell to you for £2 (about $3.30).

As You Like It, on it's own, was a great performance — full of humor, wonderful acting, vibrant clothes. For the first hour or so, I didn't mind the pounding rain, or the ever-deepening puddle that surrounded every groundling's feet.

Read on: I'm not lying. That puddle got DEEEEEP.

PARIS. ALL DAY.

Despite having to wake up at a nasty 4:00 in the morning on Saturday, I knew that this one day in Paris would give me some nice, memorable pictures. I wasn't disappointed.

I just ... wow. The City of Light still has me floored and scrambling for words to describe it. The Eiffel Tower was crazy huge — much larger than what I had expected, for sure. The Palace of Versailles? Quite possibly the most elaborate and colorful and beautiful network of rooms and gardens and halls and gates that I have ever seen.

I didn't have low expectations of this trip at all, but Paris still surprised me. In a good way. In a great way.
