New book explores professor’s journey in Asian American studies
Min Zhou, professor of sociology and Walter and Shirley Wang Endowed Chair in U.S.-China Relations and Communications, has written a new book,
“The Accidental Sociologist in Asian American Studies” (UCLA Asian American Studies Press, 2011). The book recounts Zhou's journey through the field of sociology and how she came to focus on the constantly evolving lives of Chinese Americans. It also presents some of Zhou’s research demonstrating contemporary patterns of migration and integration for Chinese Americans, and how those patterns differ from the paths available in the past.
Zhou will be doing a book talk and signing for “Accidental Sociologist” on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Chinese American Museum in downtown Los Angeles. The talk will be followed by a reception and a museum tour. To RSVP, contact Mengning Li at
