Professor’s documentary wins coveted Telly award

A television documentary produced by and featuring Thomas Gillespie, associate professor of geography, has won a Bronze Telly Award. The Telly is one of the most sought-after awards in the television and video industry. “The World’s Most Endangered Forests: Tropical Dry Forests of of Oceania” charts Gillespie's travels to study the biodiversity, endangered plants and culture of Oceania in October, 2010. Aired on UCTV , the documentary can be viewed online.

 

Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards are given each year to the best local, regional and cable television commercials, as well as to TV programs and non-broadcast video. Competitors that range from large international firms to local production companies and ad agencies vie for recognition in more than 200 categories.
