Sociology prof's book wins Charles Tilly Award
William Roy, professor and chair of the Department of Sociology at UCLA, has received the Charles Tilly Award for the best book in Collective Behavior and Social Movements from the American Sociological Association for his book "Reds, Whites, and Blues: Social Movements, Folk Music, and Race in the United States."
Roy's research interests include corporate growth and state formation, political sociology, comparative-historical methods, social construction of reality, sociology of culture, sociology of music.
