Walk your wheels

You may have noticed the bright "Walk Your Wheels" signs around Bruin Plaza or south of Parking Structure 8. The signs are UCLA Transportation's reminder to be-wheeled Bruins to hop off and walk in high-pedestrian areas. That goes for bikers, skateboarders, roller bladers or scooter-riders. UCLA student enrollment has increased nearly 10 percent since fall 2006, so the three Dismount Zones were created in 2009 to prevent collisions. Rolling through those areas can land you a $202 ticket if UCPD catches you (an amount set by the courts, not UCLA). Check out Transportation's announcement for more info.

The three campus Dismount Zones were created in 2009, and are located in Bruin Plaza, along Bruin Walk, and on the sidewalk on the south side of Parking Structure 8 that connects Westwood Plaza to Charles E. Young Drive West.
