Yudof issues statement on possibility of employee furloughs

UC President Mark G. Yudof is beginning to plan for the possibility of employee furloughs and/or temporary and permanent salary reductions as an additional element of UC's response to state budget cuts, should such a strategy become necessary.
Such a contingency plan is being prepared by the UC Office of the President to present to the regents in May for their consideration. It will provide a broad legal framework to allow for both systemwide and campus-wide furloughs and salary reductions, should they be required by the worsening state budget crisis.
Here is President Yudof's
statement regarding employee furloughs.
